About Us
This year, Freedom Within Walls launched its first “Freedom Enrichment Program” through the Freedom LEADership Program in partnership with Lead Academy in Greenville, South Carolina serving 100 students. The program provides free extended academic programming and enrichment every day after school as well as a free summer camp. In order to provide holistic, wrap-around services, this program includes mandatory parental involvement for parents and guardians in an effort to address non academic barriers in the lives of disadvantaged families thereby also impacting the home environment of each student. Students and families are provided programming encompassing character building, development and mentoring focusing on mindfulness, creating and implementing successful thought patterns, goal setting, intentional decision making, healthy relationships, building positive affirmations, financial literacy, STEM programming, music and arts, fitness, nutrition, trades and entrepreneurship and much more. Stay tuned as we work to open additional “Freedom Enrichment Programs” in our service areas.
PUBLIC NOTICE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING 21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS PROGRAM
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program provides federal funding to establish or expand community learning centers. These centers provide students with opportunities for academic enrichment, youth development, and family support during non-school hours or during periods when school is not in session. The 21st Century Community Learning Centers provide a broad array of services, programs, and activities that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students. Examples of programs include homework help, STEM/STEAM enrichment, social and emotional learning, fitness, and partnerships with many entities that provide programming to both students and family members. Freedom Within Walls is currently completing an application for 2024-25 funding for the 21st CCLC grant program serving Charlotte Lab School in Charlotte, NC.
